I decided to leave the United States the night Donald Trump was elected president.
I turned off the TV (key step) and ran an on-line search for Caribbean islands that have a full-time bridge club (I’m a competitive bridge player) and a synagogue (I was saying kaddish for my wife Jane, who had died earlier that year).
The search gods suggested I consider Barbados. I arrived here two weeks before Trump was inaugurated, and soon found it suited my needs well. Now, in the Pandemic Age, it has proven to be an extremely resilient and cohesive society and is attracting many more ex-pats like myself.

Bridgetown Synagogue Tours
I am a volunteer docent at the historic Nidhe Israel Synagogue and Museum in downtown Bridgetown. The tour I lead typically lasts about an hour. It includes the old restored Nidhe Israel synagogue, the adjacent cemeteries, the recently discovered mikvah (2007), and the Nidhe Israel museum. There is an entrance fee of $BBD25.00 for adults. $BBD, $USD and Credit Cards are accepted.
